Recommended use:
As an anti-corrosion and anti-abrasion coating for long-life protection of steel structures in severely corrosive environments such as under water hull outside, boottop, topside, exposed parts of ships, water ballast tanks, cargo holds, etc. Applicable to steel structures for offshore projects, plants, bridges and others. After mixing the product is ready to use for airless-spray application. When the paint is too thick, for instance in cold weather, the appropriate viscosity can be obtained by adding KPC 9950 EP Thinner. Adding too much thinner may have a negative impact on the results. The temperature of the substrate should be above 3°C above dewpoint at all times to prevent the forming of condense.


Main characteristics :
When recoated this AET coating will not bleed through the new film of paint. This is the reason why this AET Coating is recoatable by another epoxy coating in a different colour. Excellent weather-resistant. Very good adhesion on epoxy primers, steel and concrete. Easy to applicate by airless-spray, where a dry film thickness of 400 μm per spray can be achieved. In case of overlap a higher film thickness of 500 μm is allowed, without the risk of sagging.

Surface preparation:
Blast cleaned steel to Swedish Standard Sa 2½ and surface roughness of 50 micron gives the best result. As a miniumium requirement the surface should be dry, clean and free from dust.

When using a power tool to clean the substrate of rust, always remove oil and grease first. As a primer use KPC 5001 Zinc compound. For other than under water use the KPC 5131 EP FF coating HB HVV is also appropriate. In case of maintenance remove damaged and loose paint. Thermal galvanized steel should be blasted with a non metallic dry blasting material by which a smooth and flat surface can be obtained. In case of weather-beaten thermal galvanized steel, of which the layer of zinc is still intact, it is sufficient to clean the substrate of oil, grease and dirt.
